CULTURE / REGION OF ORIGIN: Egypt or the Near East, Early Islamic (Umayyad Period)
DATE: 7th-9th Century AD
DIMENSIONS: 2.4 cm (0.94 in.)
DESCRIPTION: Intact. A barrel shaped Islamic glass bead formed of very dark glass, appearing black, with a trail of bright yellow glass wound seven times around and then dragged with a tool lengthwise to create a feathered effect. Very well preserved color and texture with minimal surface wear. Intact and wearable.
PROVENANCE: Formerly in a Canadian private collection.
