IDENTIFYING AND AUTHENTICATING YOUR ANTIQUITIES Identification and authentication are the key elements in building a collection of ancient art. We are often contacted by members of the public who wish to identfy one or more objects they
own, sometimes through inheritance, wishing to determine if the object(s) are genuine antiquities, reproductions or tourist
trinkets. In addition, there are dealers, particularly on some web based auction sites, that are less than scrupulous and
take advantage of inexperienced buyers with a genuine interest in antiquities and ancient art by selling fakes and forgeries.
Education is the key to avoiding these traps. Our own Links page is a good place to start in building a knowledge base with
which to purchase genuine ancient art. As a service to collectors and owners, Clio Ancient Art will provide
guidance with identification and authentication of your antiquities. For a minimal fee of $35.00, which may be paid by check
or on PayPal by selecting chris@clioancientart.com, we will review any photographs and other documentation you may have for
an individual item or small group of items. Review of large collections will be billed on an hourly basis upon agreement of
terms with the customer.
