DATE: 1st-4th Century AD
DIMENSIONS: 1.45 cm (0.57 in.) wide
DESCRIPTION: Intact. A roughly spherical Roman bead of very dark blue glass, almost appearing black, crumb decorated with flecks of red, white and possibly yellow glass, worked in the flame and marvered flush with the bead's surface. Very minor surface chipping but otherwise well preserved surfaces and strong colors. Wearable.
PROVENANCE: Formerly in a Canadian private collection.
